Enterprise Car Rentals
Which rental car company holds the 16th spot on Forbes "500 Largest Private Companies in America" list? The enterprise rental car company, of course. This rental service is the largest in North America and has over 6900 offices. In addition when consumers rated the most respected companies in the U.S., Enterprise was the 49th.
A Little History
The Enterprise Car Rental company is based in St. Louis, Missouri and is a privately held company. The company has customers worldwide. Germany, the U.K., Canada, Puerto Rico and Ireland all have access to the enterprise rental car services. This company was named for the USS Enterprise, a Yorktown aircraft carrier. The founder of the enterprise rental car company, Jack Taylor served on this aircraft carrier in World War II.
The enterprise rental car company is also the owner of the Vanguard Automotive Group. This group operates Alamo Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental. Enterprise is reportedly the purchaser of 7% of all the new vehicles that are sold in the U.S. With the choice of over 120 types of vehicles, Enterprise Rental Car companies have over 713,000 automobiles at their disposal.
The year was 1995 when Enterprise opened their first airport location. This was at the Denver International Airport. With more than 230 airport locations throughout the U.S. today, this includes Ireland, the U.K., Germany and Canada.
Not only are professionals and airport travelers the ones with access to the Enterprise rental car but there is an Enterprise rental car branch available to 90% of the people in the U.S. They believe a large part of their services should focus on the neighborhoods instead of all professionals or corporate. Yes, this is a major part of their market but those who may need to rent a car while theirs is in the shop or a trip they are taking should have access to an affordable rental.
Awards and Recognition
The neighborhoods Enterprise rental car companies try to focus on are located where people live as well as well as where they work. Maybe this is why they have been the ninth place in Business Week's 2007 top 25 companies when it comes to customer service. They were also fifth on Business Week's "Best Places to Launch a Career" in 2006.
In addition Enterprise rental car companies have been recognized a total of seven times by J.D. Power and Associates as providing the highest in customer satisfaction for the locales they serve near airports. The bottom line is that Enterprise rental car companies have ranked consistently high when it comes to providing the consumer with the cars they want for the best price.
Competing with others in this lucrative market, Enterprise rental car dealers have managed to keep a top spot in the rental market and maintain the high level of customer service needed to succeed in this type of business. In today's business market, this is not an easy feat to manage but Enterprise has managed to do this and more.
